Vi kan kritiserer Kina for deres behandling af fanger, men USA... næ nej. Et årtier gammelt problem som burde være løst det øjeblik man opdagede det.

Cooling cell blocks - Landmark suit could extend heat protections to thousands of inmates: Houston Chronicle

Citer:
But this summer will be different. After a historic four-year court battle for what inmates contend is a basic human right, air conditioning is now installed at the Pack Unit in Navasota, offering relief to the 1,400 inmates at the low-security geriatric facility.

And the landmark class-action lawsuit brought by Cole and other inmates over dangerous heat conditions could finally be resolved after a federal court hearing Tuesday on a proposed settlement.

Er man dum nok til at informere sine medborgere om et sikkerhedsproblem i forbindelse med valg bliver man set på som spion af staten.

Citer:
Finally, on June 26, 2018, after over a year of fighting the case, Winner pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Espionage Act. According to the terms of her plea deal, Winner will serve 63 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. ...

Winner’s sentence is hardly lenient. She was a first-time offender, only accused of leaking one document. She was charged with a single count of violating 18 U.S.C. § 793(e), a section of the Espionage Act that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. Winner’s sentence is the longest sentence that a leaker has ever received in federal court. ...

Winner’s only crime, literally, was to share information with journalists and the American people about a foreign government’s attempt to hack U.S. voting systems. State election boards reportedly appreciated Winner’s leak, which gave them the information needed to investigate Russian hacking attempts and better secure their electronic voting infrastructure.

Et forsøg på at kortlægge antallet af personer dræbt af politiet i USA.

Risk of Police-Involved Death by Race/Ethnicity and Place, United States, 2012–2018 - Frank Edwards PhD, Michael H. Esposito MA, and Hedwig Lee PhD,American Journal of Public Health

Citer:
Results. Police kill, on average, 2.8 men per day. Police were responsible for about 8% of all homicides with adult male victims between 2012 and 2018. Black men’s mortality risk is between 1.9 and 2.4 deaths per 100 000 per year, Latino risk is between 0.8 and 1.2, and White risk is between 0.6 and 0.7.

Conclusions. Police homicide risk is higher than suggested by official data. Black and Latino men are at higher risk for death than are White men, and these disparities vary markedly across place.

Weekly Update: FISA Court Scandal Update: Judicial Watch

Citer:
No wonder the Deep Staters plotting the overthrow of Donald Trump were able to get as far as they did. The secret court meant to protect all of us from the government’s massive spy machinery was asleep at the switch. At least, I hope that’s all it was.

In response to our Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, the Department of Justice (DOJ) admitted in a court filing last night that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court held no hearings on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) spy warrant applications targeting Carter Page, a former Trump campaign part-time advisor who was the subject of four controversial FISA warrants.

[National Security Division] FOIA consulted [Office of Intelligence] … to identify and locate records responsive to [Judicial Watch’s] FOIA request…. [Office of Intelligence] determined … that there were no records, electronic or paper, responsive to [Judicial Watch’s] FOIA request with regard to Carter Page. [Office of Intelligence] further confirmed that the [Foreign Surveillance Court] considered the Page warrant applications based upon written submissions and did not hold any hearings.

The warrants were first issued in 2016 and subsequently renewed three times.

6 Facts From New Study Finding NO RACIAL BIAS Against Blacks In Police Shootings

Citer:
A new study of over a thousand police-involved shootings found what researcher Harvard Prof. Roland G. Fryer Jr. calls "the most surprising result of my career": There is no racial bias in police-involved shootings. Not only are blacks not more likely to be fired upon by police than whites in tense moments, the study found that, if anything, they are less likely to be shot at.

In what is one of the most comprehensive studies on the issue to date, Fryer — an African-American economist who says he began the study in response to his anger over the deaths of Michael Brown and Freddie Gray — examined 1,332 shootings that occurred between 2000 and 2015 in 10 major police departments.

Rart at have loven i ryggen når man fyrer løs.

https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/...-terrible-law/

Citer:
At that moment, the family dog, Bruce, approaches the officers. There is no indication that he is threatening, and no officer tries to control him by peaceful means. Instead, one officer — a man by the name of Michael Vickers — opens fire. He aims a single shot at Bruce and misses. Bruce retreats briefly and then comes back.

The officer fires again, and misses Bruce again. But he hits Corbett’s ten-year-old son in the knee. Bullet fragments remain in the knee “for an extended period of time after the shooting,” and the young boy suffers “severe pain and trauma.”

Here’s perhaps the most astounding fact: The officer fired when the boy was only 18 inches away. What an astonishingly reckless and unreasonable use of a firearm. So the boy’s family sued. They lost. The reason? An unjust doctrine called “qualified immunity.”
